The end of July is upon us and with that comes not only lots of heat and humidity here in the South, but also the preparation for a transition to more consistent routines. The more relaxed flow of summer will begin to fade for families with kids as the new beginning of another school year comes and fall sports and other activities begin to fill the calendar.
For Nurtured Soul Counseling and Wellness this summer has been one of transition and new beginnings. When I, Mary Ann, founded the solo practice in 2018 I named it with the vision that it could one day grow beyond myself and carry out the mission of nurturing the body, soul and spirit from a variety of disciplines. A few months ago, I wrote about my experience with burnout and how accepting my limitations brought me to a place of expanding my perspective to new opportunities. By choosing to contract or let go of certain responsibilities, it freed me to expand so that more people can be served. In April I contracted on my admin responsibilities when I hired Cherie Oakley as my administrative assistant. What a game changer that was! With her support, I was able to focus on the next steps in my vision for the practice by hiring two new clinicians! To read their full bios, hop on over to our Team page.

A part of our mission statement reads, “We believe in the healing power of connection…” There is something healing about simply being in the presence of a caring person, and neurobiology studies have proven that. I believe that applies not only to the care that we provide our clients, but also to our community as a team. Drawing from one another’s unique strengths, we can support one another and therefore better care for those who cross our paths. In closing, I will simply share our full mission statement:
Nurtured Soul Counseling and Wellness is a multidisciplinary team of clinicians who are passionate about caring holistically for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals and families. We believe in the healing power of connection and strive to provide compassionate, clinically-excellent care through integrating evidence-based treatment strategies from psychology, nutrition and wellness.
