Mary Ann Green, RD, LDN, LPC-MHSP

Food, nutrition and overall health have been passions of mine from a young age.  I majored in dietetics and completed my bachelor’s degree at Miami University in Oxford, OH.  Meanwhile, I also developed an interest in psychology and was naturally drawn towards helping people and connecting with them on emotional and spiritual levels.  I was especially compassionate towards those struggling with eating disorders and was inspired to focus my career on helping this population. I completed my Dietetic Internship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and became a Registered Dietitian in 2001.  Prior to working directly in the field of dietetics, I spent time in Croatia and Bosnia working with a college ministry, talking with students who had survived a horrific war.  This experience confirmed my interest in counseling, and I went on to earn an M.A. in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta, GA.   I have worked in the counseling field since 2007 and my scope of practice has included individual and group therapy with adults and adolescents, specialized training and experience in treating eating disorders, regular use of evidenced based therapies in treating anxiety and depression, and EMDR and Brainspotting training to treat PTSD.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Tennessee with the Mental Health Service Provider designation.  I am also a Registered Dietitian and a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist by the Tennessee Board of Dietitians/Nutritionist Examiners.  As a dietitian, I provide nutrition therapy for adults and adolescents, which involves a mix of educating and healing one’s relationship with food.  While I am passionate about my work, my most important roles are being a wife and a mother of two precious young boys. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors with them and our sweet dog.  I also enjoy church activities, yoga, live music, hiking and watching college sports.
