Mary Ann Green
MA, LPC-MHSP, RDN, LDN

As both a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Dietitian, my passion and career vision has been to pursue and encourage overall health on physical, emotional and spiritual levels. I specialize in integrating mental health and nutrition when treating a variety of conditions, including eating disorders, PTSD, anxiety, depression and digestive conditions, helping my clients not to just survive in life, but to overcome and thrive in life. One of my favorite quotes by Howard Thurman is, "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is more people who have come alive."

Education

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Tennessee with the Mental Health Service Provider designation and a Registered Dietitian and a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist by the Tennessee Board of Dietitians/Nutritionist Examiners. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH where I majored in dietetics and became especially compassionate towards those struggling with eating disorders. I completed my Dietetic Internship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and became a Registered Dietitian in 2001. I went on to earn an M.A. in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta, GA.

Therapist Experience

Since 2007 I have worked as a therapist and dietitian, with experience that includes individual and group therapy with adults and adolescents. I am experienced in treating eating disorders, regular use of evidenced based therapies in treating anxiety and and depression, and I offer EMDR and Brainspotting treatment methods to treat PTSD.

I am experienced in using evidence-based therapies to treat eating disorders, trauma, anxiety and depression. I am Level 1 and 2 EMDR trained, and have completed multiple Brainspotting trainings and am in the process of becoming a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner.

Clinical Interest

My areas of clinical interest include those struggling with eating disorders, body image and working through complex issues with food, nutrition and the mind. My primary specialty is healing one’s relationship with food, and doing the deeper inner work of healing their relationship with themselves, others and God.

I love working with clients of all ages in all stages of life. It is my desire to guide my clients through dealing with emotions, memories and strong complex feelings. I believe that feelings give us information about our unmet needs. They are important passengers to accompany us on our journey but they don't need to be in the driver's seat.

Trauma, PTSD, depression and anxiety are also my areas of interest, passion and expertise. After spending time in Croatia and Bosnia working with a college ministry, talking with students who had survived horrific war, I was inspired to study counseling and psychology, going on to earn my MA in professional counseling. It is a passion of mine to be able to treat clients suffering from trauma, PTSD and anxiety. I specialize specifically in EMDR and Brainspotting to treat PTSD. I am also trained and experienced in evidenced based therapies with treating anxiety and depression.

I am a wife and mother of of two young boys. When I'm not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, yoga, live music, hiking and watching college basketball. I am a dog lover and a dog foster. I am a dog lover and my beloved dog, Sweet Pea, pictured here, has been known to assist periodically in therapy sessions!

With a wide variety of clients I have found the Enneagram to be a helpful tool for facilitating personal growth, and often incorporate its wisdom into sessions.
